Episode Twenty five – The Dayton Gems

photoYou may be thinking that December is sports month on the Get Social! Radio Show, and you may be correct!

On Episode Twenty three we interviewed Jim Dabbelt on girls high school basketball in the area. This weekend, Jim will be airing his own sports show on Sunday at 7PM here on Get Social Radio that covers all topics regarding ladies high school basketball in the Miami Valley. Mark your calendars and tune in.

This week Mike and Greg featured the Dayton Gems, our new local IHL hockey team! While we did not have any inkling of the ownership change in the team last week, we got the scoop on the rest of the local media with the Gem’s first public interview following the announcement that the team is under new ownership.

Today with us in the studio we had Dayton Gems veteran defenseman Bryan Nathe “nickname nitro” who has been a professional hockey player for 6 years, two of them with the Dayton Bombers but most recently with the Witchita Thunder where in 57 games he notched 27 points. Also in the studio we have Dayton Gems forward A.J. MacLean “our nickname.. rookie” who joins the IHL this year from the Canadian Hockey League with the Arizona Sun Dogs. While in the CHL A.J. racked up 26 points in 57 games. Our surprise third guest was Gems forward, John Snowden (cool name.. especially on the first snow day in Dayton) “nickname Snowy” from Seattle.

As the temperatures decline, Greg and I hope to be reclining over at Hara Arena watching the Dayton Gem’s take the ice. These guys were definitely intense and we could tell that they give 100% on the ice.

Listen in to our interview where we chat about team travel, Step Brothers, funny names for hot dogs, dollar beers and man skates.
