Episode Four – Locavores

What is a Locavore?
Wikipedia defines it as someone who eats food grown or produced locally or within a certain radius such as 50, 100, or 150 miles. The locavore movement encourages consumers to buy from farmers’ markets or even to produce their own food, with the argument that fresh, local products are more nutritious and taste better. Locally grown food is an environmentally friendly means of obtaining food, since supermarkets that import their food use more fossil fuels and non-renewable resources.

In the first segment we will be taking calls about being a locavore as well as discussing the pros/cons of it. We will feature a call from Marilou K Suszko author and culinary instructor who will walk us through what Locavore Means. She is also author of the book, Farms And Foods of Ohio: From Garden Gate to Dinner Plate Available from Amazon.com through the show page link.

Episode Three – Harry Potter

As Mike and Greg are fans of any ultra-hyped event we decided to dedicate a portion of Episode Three to chatting about Harry Potter! In this week’s episode Mike and Greg provide a SPOILER FREE review of the new Harry Potter movie installment.

Mike covers “Event Hype” in the first segment. Sometimes the biggest and most successful events receive the least amount of advertising dollars, and still are huge! Why is that? How are promoters using hype to drive interest? How does a social medium play into this? And finally, what sort of guerrilla marketing tactics are your favorites?

In the second segment we welcome our special guest and Tipp City Councilwoman, Dee Gillis. Greg and I will be asking Dee some questions about what she finds fasacinating about making city decisions that impact us all. Coincidentally (or maybe not so) Dee is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. We hope to share with the listeners a SPOILER FREE review of the new movie and generally just geek-out about it.

Episode Two – Library in a Lurch

Not steering away from either controversy or complexity, in Episode Two Mike and Greg tackle the budget of the State of Ohio. Or, maybe we decide to just tackle a small portion of it, specifically the funding for the States’ libraries. “Ohio Libraries in a Lurch” features special guest Mark Mabelitini, Director of the Tipp City Public Library.

In the first segment of the show, Mike will review the use of Twitter for business. More specifically, how are businesses using Twitter as a tool to advance their business goals and bring value? Mike plans to share some innovative uses for Twitter that he has found and has also applied to build brands online. For those listeners who are interested in getting traffic to their website or search engine optimization, you should definitely bookmark this show as a “must listen”.

In our second segment, we will chat with our special guest Mark Mabelitini and listen as he shares the financial plight of the Ohio libraries, as well as some ways that we (the collective of small businesses in Ohio) can assist Ohio’s libraries. Further information, link goodness and guidance from Mark will be included in the final show notes so you can TAKE ACTION!
